In The Car, theres only life around Jack, both dead and alive.
He calms her, and she later gets word that shes going to be okay.

Youre going to live forever, Jack says, ominously, in the car on the way back.
That means Im going to go first…. Dont put me in the ground, okay?
Let me be outside.
He could see things before they happened, she suggests.
That car is going to tell my familys story just by looking at it, he gushes.
I want my kids to be okay, I want my family to be okay….
I see my family okay in that car.
Who wouldnt hand him the keys afterthatpitch?

The other half of the episode is far more compelling.
And the kids, too, are reeling.
She considers getting rid of the dog, instinctively punishing herself.
Its outside the reception where they reconnect.
(Shell keep it for decades.)
But the final images, simple and sweet as they are, still pack a wallop.
We watch Rebecca and the kids drive back from the tree in that same Wagoneer.
Randall and Kevin exchange a smile.
Rebecca crosses that bridge, looking directly ahead, determined strong.
Just as Jack hoped as he promised they look okay.
