The finale ofSurvivor: Ghost Islandended like no other.
She ultimately cast the most important vote inSurvivorhistory for Wendell.
But what was going on behind the scenes while Laurel was voting?
What happened to the vote after that?
And where is the vote now?
Heres how it all went down, in his own words.
Weve never had a situation like this before.
Going into it, we knew it was going to be a close vote.
Im just there, basically, to double-check that everything is recorded, that theres audio, all that.
Hes got this in the bag!He gets five votes.
Suddenly, theres another Wendell vote, and another, and another.
Sure enough, she voted for Wendell.
Jeff comes back and at this point.
Weve already filmed two seasons in a row and thats a lot of days out on the island.
So were all ready to wrap this up and are a little bit weary.
I just held up the hash marks.
Jeff looks at me and he goes, What?
So I held it up again.
Hes like, What?
I go, Its a tie!
Its like, oh my God!
There was real excitement.
So then it was like,Okay, we have a plan for this.
What do we do?It was like, all of the sudden we had to shift gears.
There was probably about four or five seconds of, like,Oh my God!
I cant believe that just happened!
Like the way a fan would react.
He goes, Okay, this is what Im going to say.
Does it sound good?
Okay, that sounds right.
Okay, here we go.
So then Jeff walked out and youve seen the rest.
Im going to read the votes.
I think that was the line.
It just really fit the tone of the whole moment.
We had Laurels vote for almost 11 months in a safe.
As for where the vote is now, afterGhost Island, we have become collectors.
We keep a hold of all sorts of things now.
A lot of people make fun of me.
I am kind of like the trash man when it comes toSurvivormemorabilia.
So yes, we still have possession of that vote, as well as all of the others.
