Reports indicate that the Academy is scrambling to find a host in the wake of Kevin Hart’s abdication.
So why is Oscar host proving to be such a difficult role to fill?

Look, its a gig that has all eyes on it, says MacFarlane.
Hosting can be a no-win scenario, the entertainment equivalent ofStar Treks Kobayashi Maru.
The thing about award shows in general is, its kind of a dusty format, MacFarlane says.
Its a format thats about as current as the 1950s variety show format.
So its not an easy job, and Im not surprised that they have a tough time finding takers.
Still, MacFarlane concedes, Its fun!
Its a fun gig.
