Barry Wetcher/Warner Bros.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You play Debbie Ocean, Dannys sister.
Can you share a little of your backstory?SANDRA BULLOCK:Well not too much.
Yes, I am Danny Oceans sister.
Ive been incarcerated for about five years and you find out why during the course of the film.
I mean, thats sort of a tiny subplot.
Whats fun is that its not their whole life.
So youll find one whos a stay-at-home mom with two children who sells things on the QVC.
And here comes Debbie Ocean who enlists their help of them, but not because she only wants females.
Imagine all eight of us crammed into a makeup trailer in the morning.
And then we get to shoot this movie together.
What was the dynamic like on the set with all those female stars? It was so great.
But you so get it with women.
Oh my God, my son needs a uniform.
Oh my God, I have this great website.
What do you do in this work situation?
We all looked at each other and went, why didnt we know these things before?
But we dont want it to be just for women.
This is not a man-hating.
We love the men.
Theres men in this movie.
But this one heist needs women.
When it was announced there would be an all-female cast ofGhostbusters, those actresses were put through hell.
Has it been the same for the cast ofOceans 8?They did put them through hell.
And Im still trying to figure out why.
Forget what the final product was!
There were four or five of the most talented comediennes in that film.
Everyone shouldve just taken a breath and said, lets see what happens.
It doesnt take just five people to make a movie.
Its pretty much like around 300.
So I keep reminding everybody, if you hate my film remember theres another 299 people all around me.
Were not a reboot.
Were just athis is whats happening in 2017.
Its not even a passing of the torch.
Well, you know what, I dont like the sequels thatIvedone.
I mean, I should just correct that.
And thats not the way things are anymore.
If something strikes a chord, anOceans 9would be ideal.
Oceans 8hits theaters on June 8.
