Jason Momoa has so much screen presence.
That said, its a good thing he didnt.

Cold Open
Alec Baldwindidnt pay Studio 8H another visit this week, but Robert De Niro did.
(The minions lamp is a nice touch.)
It may be a message appropriate for a holiday-themed cold open, but its also toothless.
(He loves tellinghis storyabout almost coming to New York to audition for the show.)

Momoa joked as soon as he reached the stage.
Yeah, he gets it.
That uttermanlinessthat landed him roles like Khal Drogo and Arthur Curry!

Oh, how I wish theGame of Thronessketch took this title.

Instead, Momoas run started strong with this sketch, a twist on theelves-at-the-North-Poleoutings of the past.
and the casts edited, chipmunk-y voices gave the material a much-needed upgrade.
It also helped that Momoa made a fully fledged character despite the little hes given.
Its solid and more importantly, funny commentary that works on multiple levels because of Thompsons cocksure performance.
That said, bonus points for the use of theEmpirefont for the word Them.
Why play it safe on something like this?
Plus, the guests this week were… questionable.
That wasnt clear to me.)
Besides, Stefon, the last great Weekend Update mainstay, was a creation that recommended locations to visit.
If Carries reason for stopping by the show is the same, she has anextremelyhigh bar to clear.
