USA Today: Perfectly fine … Blunt, for one, knows exactly what shes doing.
The big musical set-pieces here play like second-rate retreads … Its just not as good as the childrens film it is trying so hard to be.

The result is thus perfectly passable, but well short of practically perfect.
If you havent seen the originalMary Poppins, thenMary Poppins Returnswill probably seem vibrant and new.
But when placed next to the classic, it looks more like a pale imitation… His movie just doesnt have the same level of imagination, and it certainly doesnt have the songwriting chops.
I wanted more practical controls and textures, more to grab onto beyond Blunts radiant appeal.
