Childs Playremake producer Seth Grahame-Smith has said thatMark Hamillwas the first to choice to voice Chucky in the film.
He was the first choice, a big swing, and it just happened.
The producer also talked about working with Hamill on the project and watching him voice Chucky.

I never obviously thought Mark Hamill would everbein this movie when writing it, said Smith.
When I was writing it, I hadnt thoughtwhothe voicewould be.
As soon as they told me, it was perfect.
It fits this version of Chucky perfectly.
It has a distinct feel thats different from the original but still feels very much Chucky.
