LongtimeJeopardy!host Alex Trebek revealed Wednesday that he was diagnosed this week with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Its in keeping with my policy of being open and transparent with ourJeopardy!fanbase.

I also wanted to prevent you from reading or hearing some overblown or inaccurate reports regarding my health.

So therefore, I wanted to be the one to pass along this information.

Now, normally the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but Im gonna fight this.

Im gonna keep working.

Truth be told, I have to.

Under the terms of my contract, I have to hostJeopardy!for three more years.

Keep the faith, and well win!

Well get it done.

Trebek already started to receive encouragement, both from YouTube commenters and peers includingWheel of Fortunehost Pat Sajak.

The Sajak family is deeply saddened to hear of Alex Trebeks struggle with cancer, Sajak wrote on Twitter.

Our hearts go out to him and his family.

We, and the entire country, are pulling for you, Alex.
