There are very few R-rated movies now, but there were plenty of R-rated thrillers back then.

As silly as that sounds, I thought we could have some fun, it will be a lark.

Thats how foolish I was.

Because I thought, Yeah, we can make a Predator movie, it will be a lark.

Very briefly by the way.

To the degree that the first one influenced me, it was just riffing on it.

Can you set the stage for the timeline of the film?

I wanted a certain more graceful, more light, more athletic quality, literally like a predator.

If you watch a cheetah, its not clunky.

You have such a great and eclectic cast in this film.

So I looked for the acting chops, this group of guys that had this general angst.

Alfie Allen, of course.

Augusto Aguilera, who is just a real find.

Hes now working with Nicolas Winding Refn and everyone is recognizing him.

If anything, Im just kind of proud that we had a crack at him.

Boyd Holbrook is the leader, the sort the Lee Marvin to their Dirty Dozen.

Its important that we get this one right.

Its strange, but its so longstanding and wont go away.

The Predatoropens in theaters on Sept. 14.
