Genre festival takes place, Nov. 2-9

It has been announced that the inauguralCinepocalypsegenre festival in Chicago will screen both the Bill Paxton-starring vampire taleNear Darkand the Stephen King-directed, cars-gone-wild movieMaximum Overdrive.

The films will be introduced by director Joe Carnahan (Narc), who will also be on hand for a screening of his 1998 directorial debut,Blood, Guts, Bullets & Octane.

Cinepocalypses final lineup also includes the world premiere of director Patrick Magees Sasquatch horror filmPrimal Rageand the U.S. premiere of science fiction sequelBeyond Skyline.Guests at the festival will include legendary director Larry Cohen (Its Alive,The Stuff), screenwriter Simon Barrett (Youre Next,The Guest), and actors Antonio Fargas, Eric Roberts, Barbara Crampton, and Jessica Harper, the latter of whom will be attending a screening of the Dario Argento-directed giallo masterpiece,Suspiria.
