I cant think of who else could have played Diggles father and a four-star general.
It was just great.
The Easter egg of General Stewart is fantastic.

I think thats going to get fans going.
Its always fun to play with that whole thing.
And it was just a lot of nuance, right?
Diggle is dealing with issues from when he was 12, 13, 14 years old.
It was interesting to sink my teeth my into that.
Lets go bust some ass and fight some crime over a drink, says Ramsey.
I think the fight that they had still lingers in the air someplace even though theyve made up.
He just left A.R.G.U.S.
So, I think its worth some place in the storytelling of saying, Lets say this out loud.
Lets clink our glasses, and then throw it to bed and move past it finally.'
My idea was that Diggle should deal with these issues of childhood trauma.
First of all, I think we nailed that, and I also think thats just life.
Were all just dealing with a lot of things that happened to us in our childhood.
I think thats just one more thing that makes Diggle relatable.
I think Diggle is one of the more relatable characters.
Thats one of the things that helps Diggle resonate with people, because hes just a normal guy.
There wasnt much going on.
I met him there, we worked together, and it was just fantastic.
The mark of a great actor, everyone says, is just the ability to listen.
I was privileged, and it made my job easier because it was easier to emote.
Yes, without a doubt.
Diggle, on the other hand, is the opposite.
In season 4, he was initially wary of Andy and reluctant to let him back in his life.
Thats part and parcel of who John Diggle is.
Ultimately, he did and it was a mistake, and led toBlack Canarys death, among other things.
That came to a head also last season.
Its something were going to get into more next season.
Being able to see that bang out of thing again with some levity, with Okay, weve grown.
Yeah, were freaking different.
Look at all this stuff weve been through.
Look at the things weve accomplished.
Now, lets go kick some butt.
Its been seven seasons, and I think these guys have earned it.
I dont think weve had that.
Weve had tears, but weve had it in anger, in fighting.
Weve had the handshakes afterwards, but theres still something a bit hollow in that.
Not to say I dont feel energized every season.
But I was directly involved with the storytelling of every character.
I was directly involved with what I thought about every color of wardrobe or set design.
So how did it change my approach?
So, it has made me look at the bigger story, the bigger arc of the season.
Its making me now look at the next 10 episodes as a 10-part mini-series.
How big can we make each episode?
How do we take the gloves off of the storytelling?
Thats energizing and exciting.
Hopefully, fingers crossed, I get to direct next season and be part of that storytelling.
Whats happening with John Diggles stepfather?
What does OTA mean after we lose the T and me and Oliver have to move on past that?
What does that all mean?
