Um, so…thats it for Group Rounds?
I mean, look at Logan Johnson, another member of Nates group.
Hes up there singing For the Longest Time and I dont think Ive ever liked him more.

AMERICAN IDOL – “Hollywood Week” – “American Idol” contestants continue to vie for their chance at stardom while in the heart of Los Angeles, as the search for America’s next superstar continues on The ABC Television Network, SATURDAY, MARCH 30 (8:00 – 10:00 p.m. EDT), streaming and on demand. Regardless, we have arrived at The Solos Round.
The third room will be sent home.
He floors the judges with Elton Johns Your Song.
Katy says what were all thinking: Harry Potter can sing!
And he gets a standing ovationalways a sign youre in the clear.
The same can be said forRyan Hammond.
A true life accomplishment.
The same goes forKai the Singer.
She never gets there.
The judges think nerves have gotten the best of her.
I mean, yeah, it was her first time on both a plane AND AN ESCALATOR.
She has a lot going on at the moment.
A big theme of the evening is song choice.
Well, lets be real, thats the theme of this show.
Song choice makes an American Idol.
Seriously, Im haunted.
You guys, never do an original song in the Solos Round, okay?
Early favorites likeEddie IslandandWade Cotaboth choose to do originals and the judges are less than impressed.
At one point, Lionels like, You have one shot and you do that?
Papa Lionel will cry over almost anything, but hell also speak some hard truths.
Hes taking care of you, thats all!
Let this baby bird fly, you know?
The other crusher of dreams during Hollywood Week is the exhaustion.
These people are tired.
A potent mix of exhaustion and nerves gets to bothMargie MaysandTyler Mitchell.
Margie was much better in her Line of Ten, but that doesnt seem to bother the judges.
This breakdown is pretty tough to watch.
Hes so hard on himself.
Its a real shame because right up until he forgets the lyrics, Luke Bryan issointo it.
Well see if its enough to carry him through.
Hollywood Week is all about talent, baby.
Speaking of: Finally, we get toJeremiah Lloyd Harmon.
This man has yet to have a bad performance.
I wish I could say the same for two Audition standouts,Myra TranandShayy.
Neither of those happens when Myra takes the song on.
She has a big voice, but the judges arent impressed with this performance.
Shayy selects Carrie Underwoods Cry Pretty, a song shes never sung before.
you’re able to tell she doesnt fully connect to this one.
Have two of our biggest voices done themselves in?
Another judges favorite,Madison Vandenburg, did apparently pay attention to the judges speech about original songs.
Shes about to perform one, but eventually switches to Adeles All I Ask.
It is a very, very good choice.
Could you even hear it over Katys wailing?
Anyhoo, lets get down to what we all came here for: The big cut.
I mean, the living out your dreams thing is cool, but you guysHawaii!
I mean, I had trouble remembering performances for most of the people they name in the no room.
The Top 40 does feel pretty stacked though, so cuts from now on will probably be divisive.
For now, lets get to the big announcements.
Theres no doubt theyre going through, and Katy lets them know the good news.
Room 2gets the no this year.
Hey, at least its Papa Lionel who lets them down, right?
That meansRoom 3is headed to Hawaii as well.
On that note, lets peel out of Hollywood and take our Top 40 to Hawaii.
Theres so much to look forward to!
Like Wade Cota, I, too, must invest in some more shorts.
