Lets get right into the pilot episode of this new fall show youll pretty quickly see what I mean.
In a breast cancer examination room, Gary (James Roday) is having X-rays reviewed.
Jon has jumped from his office window, plummeting to his death.

Back in the present day, the guys cant believe that conversation happened just a week ago.
Yes, it seems Jon had more than one cliche up his sleeve.
What couldve changed so drastically?

Later at a cancer remission support group, Gary is unsurprisingly making jokes.
He points out that men get breast cancer too.
Is it just me, or is he not as adorably glib as he thinks?

(Hes kind of like awayless funny, straight Max fromHappy Endings.)
Gary and Maggie have sex in the bathroom.
Before the funeral, Rome edits more footage in which Jon is talking about their friendship.
They all toast to it being comprised of a million little things.
Rome evades the question.
The next day at the funeral, no one is really adequately upset.
Indeed, Gary is even late and brings Maggie as his morning-after date.
(How Gary of him!)
Eddie also uses his eulogy to reveal hes been sober nearly 7 years because of his late friends advice.
Everyone gathers at Jon and Delilahs truly enormous house for the wake.
Delilah asks Jons secretary Ashley if she has any idea why he would have wanted to kill himself.
They head to Jons office (the scene of his death) to retrieve the tickets.
Eddie explains he was teaching a guitar class at the time, seemingly surprised he missed it.
They just sit like guys and never share their truths.
Gary still doesnt buy the whole fate angle and asks whats one good thing thats happened because of this?
He explains that sometimes he thinks itd just be easier to end it all.
The serious moment about depression is broken by Rome telling Gary what color his eyes are.
Back at Delilahs place, the ladies chitchat outside by the fire, sipping wine.
Theyre all doing remarkably well considering this shocking and unexpected death.
Delilah questions how she had no idea what was going on with her husband.
The ladies drink more wine to toast Jons generosity and thoughtfulness.
Elsewhere, Eddie texts the woman he loves and we find out its none other than Jons widow Delilah.
Later that night, he goes over to see Delilah.
Shes worried Jon knew about their affair and thats why he killed himself.
She tells Eddie if he loves her hell leave right now and closes the door in his face.
Eddie nearly has a drink but his son startles him and he doesnt.
He does have a voicemail from Jon, though, that he hasnt listened to yet.
Gary leaves a framed photo of the bestie-bros on Romes doorstep.
Heres hoping for more answers next week!
