Now the tangled story of families and friendships in a poor neighborhood in Naples is making the jump to premium cable with an eight-episode adaptation from Italian filmmaker Saverio Costanzo, focused on the first of Ferrantes four novels,My Brilliant Friend....

Ferrante addiction is a global pandemic, of course. In macro, the mind races for heavy comparisons: Woolf, Tolstoy, Eliot, the other Eliot. And Ferrantes style is intimate, confessional, very funny.
